    Attorney Linda S. Balisle is the founder of the Madison law firm of Balisle Family Law Legal Counsel, S.C. She concentrates her practice in the area of divorce mediation, arbitration and, if necessary, litigation for high net worth clients and business owners, as well as complex jurisdictional issues, non-traditional families, and appellate practice. Of the many appellate cases she has argued, 17 were published in the case reports, Attorney Balisle is licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin, the U.S. Federal Western District of Wisconsin, and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is one of two Wisconsin Diplomates of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers (ACTFL). She is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and served as a past president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Wisconsin Chapter. She received her J.D. degree, cum laude, from University of Wisconsin in 1979, and taught Family Law, Civil Procedure and Appellate Procedure at her alma mater from 1982-1995. Attorney Balisle is a member of the American, Wisconsin and Dane County Bar Associations and has been active on several committees in each of those associations, including Chair of the Federal Legislation and Lobbying Task Force of the ABA Family Law Section. She served as the first woman Chair of the Board of Governors of the Wisconsin Bar Association and is a member of the Family Law and Appellate Practice sections. Attorney Balisle served on the Board of the Wisconsin Law Foundation from 1988 to 1995, is a current fellow of the American Bar Foundation and received the Wisconsin Law Foundation’s Belle Case LaFollette award for outstanding service to the profession. She has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America, Martindale Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and Super Lawyers for several years. She was recognized as Madison’s Best Family Law Attorney by Best Lawyers in America in 2009 and 2019.

  • Lindsey E. Cobbe

    Attorney

    Attorney Lindsey E. Cobbe is an associate at Balisle Family Law Legal Counsel, S.C. who focuses her practice on divorce trial litigation and mediation, child custody and physical placement matters, appellate cases, and estate planning. Attorney Cobbe brings a wide-range of knowledge and experience to her practice. A graduate of Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she completed a dual degree in Economics & Business and Health Sciences. She earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2010, where she received Dean’s List honors and awards for leadership and service to the UW Law School. Before joining Balisle Family Law Legal Counsel, S.C. Attorney Cobbe worked with individuals and families in crisis at the Wisconsin Innocence Project, a part of the Frank J. Remington Center at the University of Wisconsin Law School. There, she investigated and litigated post-conviction claims of actual innocence on behalf of Wisconsin inmates. She also supervised law students working on wrongful conviction cases and taught them the skills necessary to be strong advocates for their clients facing stressful situations.

  • Nicholas O. Yurk

    Attorney

    A Wisconsin native, Attorney Nicholas O. Yurk earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School, cum laude, in 2016 and his Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Public Administration, and Philosophy with honors from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in 2013. While in law school, Attorney Yurk interned for Justice N. Patrick Crooks of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and served as an Articles Editor for the Wisconsin Law Review. He received the Best Performance Award in Family Law, representing the highest grade in his Family Law course, and worked at a private firm with a family law focus. Attorney Yurk worked as a Research Assistant for the University of Wisconsin – Extension School for Workers, and as a Legal Extern with WPS Health Insurance. For all three years of law school, Attorney Yurk volunteered to represent individuals in unemployment compensation hearings through the Unemployment Appeals Clinic. Attorney Yurk is the co-author with Attorney Alexia Kulwiec of “Adapting to the Changing Patterns of Industrial Life: The Importance of the NLRB Decisions in Browning-Ferris and Miller & Anderson” Labor Law Journal Volume 67, Issue 2, Summer 2016. Attorney Yurk concentrates his practice on all aspects of divorce litigation.

  • Ashleigh M. Hacker

    Attorney

    Attorney Ashleigh M. Hacker completed both her undergraduate degree and law degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and Sociology and a Certificate in Criminal Justice in 2013, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2018. She qualified for a family law certificate from the University of Wisconsin Law School and, in 2018, received the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Award recognizing her commitment and dedication to family law. During law school she worked for the Family Law Project, a clinical program of the Frank D. Remington Center, and for Balisle Family Law as a law clerk. Attorney Hacker was born and raised in the Madison, Wisconsin area and has strong ties to the community. Her grandpa, who grew up in Madison’s historic Greenbush neighborhood, sparked her interest in the law with long discussions about policy and important community issues. Prior to law school, Attorney Hacker worked in the City of Madison Mayor’s Office, where she assisted a number of city residents daily with their questions and concerns. She focuses her practice on all aspects of divorce litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
